1 roasted chicken (roast your own or buy a rotisserie roasted) 2-4 tablespoons olive oil 4 cups low sodium chicken stock (if you roast your own chicken, make broth from the drippings) 1/2 cup peas (if using canned peas, put them in at the end, so they do not get too mushy)Slippery Chicken Potpie {made gluten-free!}. What is slippery pot pie? 

When I first moved to West Virginia from Kansas, I had by no means heard of slippery pot pie. Then my mother-in-law made us some and I vowed to discover ways to make it for my family. 

Slippery Pot Pie – or Pennsylvania Dutch Chicken Soup – is principally a chicken soup with selfmade flat noodles. The noodles are 1/4 inch thick and have a reasonably chewy texture. In fact, what makes this "slippery pot pie" is the noodles. You need to lead them to from scratch and make them square.

My Secret Weapon – Better Than Bouillon

Since I'm already taking a large number of time to make the noodles from scratch, I took slightly shortcut with the chicken broth. I used the Roasted Chicken base.

I am all about finding techniques to save time within the kitchen. These are such a lot faster and better than the cubes! Those had been just a little more time eating, unwrapping each and every dice after which hoping they dissolved as it should be. 

Better than Bouillon is a paste. One teaspoon of paste makes 8 ounces of broth. You gained't believe the quantity of taste packed in those jars!

Here's easy methods to make the slippery pot pie, step by step. 

The first step is to prep your entire ingredients. Chop the potatoes, pre-cook and chop the chicken, and chop up your onion and carrots.  Set those apart. If you might be running brief on time, you'll be able to do that forward of time and simply keep them in the fridge. 

Next, you are going to make the noodles. Get a big bowl and mix up the flour, milk, egg and butter with your fingers. 

Next, it is important to get the consistency of your dough good. You don't need it too sticky or too crumbly. If it's too sticky, add just a bit more flour. If it's crumby or crumbling too much, add a little more milk. 

After you get the dough the fitting consistency, flour your table and roll out the dough to at least one/4 inch thick. If the dough sticks on your rolling pin, put some flour on it. 

Then with a pointy knife, lower the dough into squares. Now you are ready to make the broth and start making the soup! 

Get a large soup pot and fill it with 7 cups of water. Then, put 7 teaspoons of Better Than Bouillon roasted chicken base within the water and blend well. Better Than Bouillon is a paste listen this is similar to a bouillon cube or broth.

Bring this mix to a boil. Add in the carrots, potatoes, and onion. While it is boiling, slowly drop on your noodles, stirring gently after you add them. 

If you stir the soup somewhat bit after including a few noodles a time, you save you them from clumping together. 

When all of the noodles are added to the pot, flip the heat all the way down to medium-low, cover, and let it cook for roughly an hour. This is enough time for the veggies and noodles to all cook dinner. 

Then add the chicken and let it all prepare dinner for any other 15 minutes.

Three lbs chicken breast tenders 1 onion chopped Three large potatoes, peeled and lower into bite sized chunks Four carrots, peeled and sliced into 1/4 inch slices 1/2 tsp 7 teaspoons Better than Bouillon roasted chicken base 7 cups water 2 1/2 c flour 3/4 stick butter, softened 1/Three c (roughly) milk salt and pepper to style 1 egg

Instructions

Cook chicken and chop into bite-sized pieces. Set aside.In a large blending bowl, mix the flour, egg, milk, butter and salt and pepper via hand.Make sure the dough is the right consistency. If it is too sticky, add extra flour. If it's too dry, add somewhat extra milk.Flour your floor.Roll out dough to at least one/Four inch thick.Cut into 1 inch squaresAdd Better than Bouillon to 7 cups a water. Bring to a boil.Add the carrots, onion, and potatoes to the boiling broth.While it's boiling, place the noodles within the broth. Stir after including noodles a couple of at a time, to stop clumping.Cover and cook at medium-low for 45 mins.Add cooked chicken, duvet, and cook for some other 15-20 minutes.Serve with recent parsley as a garnish.
